My company published a web page accessible by employees from on our LAN and via the internet. Right now the access to that site is via an authentication database on our AIX server.

I'm in the process or setting up Outlook OWA (Exchange 2K) and would like to use it's authentication scheme to enable a single sign on process.

I'd like for our users to authenticate against AD and be granted access to the employee web site and OWA with a single login. It would simplify administration (all permissions would be administered in AD) and it would make the user's experience better by not having to log in multiple times.

Does anyone have any experience doing something like this?

i beleive exchange server allows for checking logged in useraccount against a pdc so that if you're logged in and open outlook you're not prompted for credentials, in turn since this is a windows/domain auth, if you're referring to authentix (AIX?) authentix can parse directly to your pdc for authentication
