Hi guys,

I've just taken over my first E2007 site and i'm still learning about this version (i'm confident with E2003 though). The one question i have is, does OWA work across the web by default? OWA works fine internally but i can't get it to work externally. I think it's a firewall misconfiguration but i don't want to go chasing that up if it's something to do with IIS or E2007. To make things worse, i'm not familliar with these routers either so by asking on here will help me track down where the issue is coming from.

Thanks

Paul

There are specific ports etc. that have to be opened up and pointed towards your Exchang server. This is clearly documented in the configuration white papers.

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

There are no more PDC's! There are DC's with FSMO roles!

Ok i'm one step further forward with this. When i browse to the server accorss the web via (I'm testing this from external)i get prompted for a username and password, i enter it and it then trys to redirect me to my exchange server via the local address i.e.
So how do i change it so that it forwards me correctly?

Paul

Bugger! E2007 uses /owa and not /exchange

well there went half a day of my live.

Cheers

Paul.

E2k7 uses both. If the user's mailbox is on a 2007 mailbox server, /owa gives them access. If the user's mailbox is on a legacy mailbox server, then /exchange gives them access. In general, users should go to /owa, and it will redirect if it needs to.

Thanks Pat, i know this now. Just one of the many small differences that i'm bound to learn over the coming weeks.

Cheers
