OWA error 500 Child domain account

I have configured OWA to work with SSL for my domain, all working OK. However when i have come to try and logon with my child domain i am getting an HTTP error 500. The child domain is an old NT 4.0 domain added to my windows domain, so i am using the old netbois name of the domain and then the user name to logon, domain\username. Just the same as i do for my main domain, but it isn't working.
Has anyone any ideas!?
