We are currently looking at using personal certificates with OWA (Exchange 2003) for encrypting email with external contacts.
When validating a digital signature, the S/MIME control retrieves the digital certificate included with the signed message and uses that certificate for validation.
When retrieving digital certificates to obtain public keys from a directory it looks at the users Contacts folder.
However, one of the limitations with OWA is that you cannot add a recipient’s digital certificate to an item in the Contacts folder using OWA. Instead you must use Full Outlook to add a digital certificate to a contact.
All of our clients use OWA. Does anyone know of a workaround to this limitation of OWA?
