I have installed exchange 2k as a test just now with no replication set up between 5.5 and 2k. All I did was run the domainprep, forestprep, installed 2k and move a test mailbox from the 5.5 server to the 2k server.

Now it seems none of my users can access OWA - a blank page is displayed when they try. Also users connecting from home through the VPN now get asked for their logon credentials when before they were not.

Any ideas?

Was OWA 5.5 on the same box or a seperate web server? E2K does not allow for a seperate install of OWA. We have had to do a redirect and allow for http access to our E2K machine on the firewall. Verify that the rights to the Exchange web folder are correct using IIS administrative tools. You may need to verify the ACL on the NTFS folder as well.

There are bloaters of variables not included in your post. Information like:

Location of servers (original and upgrade)
Active Directory as it relates to your DNS

These two categories alone amount to a book. If you want an answe to this you're going to have to supply alot more detail.

Thanks for the replies folks. Unfortunately I think I have misled you with the original post.

It turned out that the Web agent failing and my install of 2k were unrelated. The service on the original exchange 5.5 server had hung and a reboot of this server fixed the problem.

Thanks again.
