Hi !
The process ovrequestd is non startabble. ovrequestd - NOT_RUNNING - Exit(2)

it says that obtaining an exit number 2 means that
Lockfile exists: either there is already an ovre-
questd running on this server directory or the file OV install dir /analysis/ovrequestd/config/ovrequestd.properties.lock
needs to be removed.
But .. this lock file does not exist

when I try to start the process I obtain the same message (Exit(2))

Hope you can help

Annie

Hi Annie,

Obvious questions are - have you done a:
[tt]
find / -name ovrequestd.properties.lock -print
[/tt]

to check that the file is not being placed somewhere unexpected - and try a:
[tt]
ps -ef | egrep ovrequest
[/tt]

to check for that process in the process list.

From there, I would shut down everything to do with OpenView - do an:
[tt]
ovstop
[/tt]

and then login as oracle and do an:
[tt]
svrmgrl <<!
connect internal
shutdown
startup
!
[/tt]

and then finally an:
[tt]
ovstart
[/tt]

If that fails - reboot the whole box and see what the situation is when it starts up again.

If you find the file somewhere funny, or you find the ovrequestd process already running, you will probably need to do an [tt]ovstop && ovstart[/tt] to get things back as they should be anyway.

If *all* of that fails, come back and we'll have another think. :) Mike
