Hi,

I have a crystal report in 2008 version and is automated through CE XI and writes into network location as an excel exported file. This is automated to run daily. But in case if a user leaves open the excel file on their machines the report doesn't get refresh with new data.

Can anyone help me with a work around? How I can save the overwrite the already opened excel file?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

TIA,
RR

Hi,

So you have ONE workbook.

I'd download a TEXT FILE rather than a formatted workbook, and have THE workbook IMPORT the data each time it is opened (using the Workbook_open event) or even just once per day.

Used this technique many time for the very reason you described.

Thank you SkipVought! I will sure looking into that post you sent me to see how I can work around.

Thanks again!
