I have an MS Access database that sotres images. The fields are as follows:

Field Data Type Example Data

FileData OLE Object Long binary data
FileSize Number 21024
FileName Text building.jpg
ContentType Text image/pjpeg

Here's my code which inserts a file I select in the form file textbox:

<!--#include file="Loader.asp"-->
<%
Response.Buffer = True

' load object
Dim load
Set load = new Loader

' calling initialize method
load.initialize

' File binary data
Dim fileData
fileData = load.getFileData("file")
' File name
Dim fileName
fileName = LCase(load.getFileName("file"))
' File path
Dim filePath
filePath = load.getFilePath("file")
' File path complete
Dim filePathComplete
filePathComplete = load.getFilePathComplete("file")
' File size
Dim fileSize
fileSize = load.getFileSize("file")
' File size translated
Dim fileSizeTranslated
fileSizeTranslated = load.getFileSizeTranslated("file")
' Content Type
Dim contentType
contentType = load.getContentType("file")
' No. of Form elements
Dim countElements
countElements = load.Count
' Value of text input field "fname"

' destroying load object
Set load = Nothing
%>

Loader.asp file code:

I need to find out how to update the existing record or if the file textbox is blank, leave the existing record in place.

ouch - is there any reason why you are storing the images in the database rather than just storing the file path?

is there an example of uploading a image to the server and storing it's path. Then retrieve it to display it.
