Hi,

For some reason my Laserjet 5L prints oversized text/graphics …waaaayyy oversized!

Here are the settings I'm using

Paper size: letter
True type font: substitute with device font
Halftoning: auto select
Print optimization: enabled
Ret: ON
Print all text as black: enabled
Graphics mode: send graphics as Vector
Page protection: OFF

Any suggestions on what I can do to fix this?

Thanks,
Mario

Any reason why you are using font substitution as the 5L will print TrueType fonts? Are you sure the source document is set up for Letter size to match the printer? Also check that Scaling hasn't been applied in the print setup.

Hi tf1,

Q - "Any reason why you are using font substitution as the 5L will print TrueType fonts?"
A - The only other option in the setup is: "Download as Softfont"

Q - "Are you sure the source document is set up for Letter size to match the printer?"
A - Yes

Q - "check that Scaling hasn't been applied in the print setup."
A - Are you talking about Scale to Fit in the Printing Preferences/Effects/Fit to Page dialogue box?

Thanks,
Mario

Hi Mario

Download as Softfont is the way to go when using TrueTypes. Unless you are using loads of different fonts in every document sent to print, the option has little impact on performance because a font set will only be downloaded once when starting a new session. It doesn't have to download a font set for each size either because TrueTypes are 'fully scaleable'.

Scaling: yes, I was referring to the fit to page scaling options.

Also, you may just have a corrupt printer driver: have you tried deleting the printer and reinstalling it?

Finally, is the problem occuring when printing from all applications?
