i am having a problem with a print company that is overseas. i sent the files to them and they are telling me that they need the PMS or Pantone numbers. i created the files in Illustrator CS and used pantones from the swatch list. i even included swatches in the document and wrote the number right next to the appropriate square. is there some sort of color profile problem here?

the colors:
DS 328-1 U
DS 14-8 U
DS 58-1 U

they also use Illustrator 10, could this be the problem?

any help is greatly appreciated
kurt

I am on Illustrator 10 here and I bet that is the problem, because version 10 doesn't have those pantone colors that you showed in your post. Which Swatch Library of Pantone is that?

You could open that particular Swatch Library and then resave it as version 10 and send them it so they would have the same library, but still if they don't have the mixing formula for the Pantone colors they couldn't do much with it.

They look like they're from the Pantone Process Uncoated swatch. Try using the Pantone Solid Uncoated swatch instead.

Wasn't it some time after the release of AI V10 (in 2001/2?) that Pantone completely updated all their swatches (and made very little noise about it). They added/subtracted certain colours and changed the ink mixes in some other colours so there was closer correlation between the breakdown between Photoshop and Illustrator.
