I have a grayscale image in Photoshop that I need to overprint on the background that I have in InDesign. It's not doing it automatically, apparently.

I'm using version CS for both. As always, any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

What image file format? Does it behave differently in another format?

Your printer will love you much more if you do the whole overlay in photoshop instead of combining ID and PS. They have bug issues with ID transparency.

jimoblak - I have it saved as an eps, but I can save it any way, it doesn't really matter as long as it overprints.

Lessa - if I did the whole thing in Photoshop would the black graphic overprint on the background automatically?

make sure you have the latest updates from Adobe of both PS and Indesign. The printing issue may be resolved with them.

Select the greyscale image with the Direct Selection tool (white arrow). Window > Attributes > check the Overprint Fill box. That'll do it!
