Overnight pickup problem

I am having an issue with overnight calls not being able to be picked up.

My system is setup that after hours calls that go through the auto attendant go to our lobby security which is extension 2272. However the calls ring on the overhead page. The security person uses a RNP key to pickup the call.

My problem is that when they go to pick up the call it gives them a fast busy and says release and try again on the phone. Another weird thing is ive only had reports of this happening on a Sunday night.

Nothing has changed with auto attendant, 2272, or the paging.

Any ideas? I am mostly confused about how the CDB says the call should go to 2272 but yet its ringing on the overhead page.

The usual suspect would be that someone has callforwarded x2272 to the overhead paging number. Check if you get interrupted dialtone on x2272, or TRAC the TN in LD 80.

No forwarding is set for 2272. And 2272 is the phone that is attempting to pick up the call.

print the over head paging TN and the TN of the person trying to pick up calls on Sunday - the RNPG number needs to be the same and the users phone needs PUA in CLS

The paging TN doesnt have RNPG as an option. Thats why none of this makes sense to me. I dont even know how they were picking up the calls in the first place.

Thats how i got to where i am. Nothing they tell me is making sense to me.

I'm not certain how you could prove 2272 isn't Call Forwarding to the overhead Night Bell on Sunday nights.

strange indeed - could try some dry runs - from one phone just dial the overhead page DN when ringing try to pick up with RNP from different phones - see what is different from the phones that can and the phones used on Sunday that can not.

GHTROUT,

No forwarding on that phone. Unless theres a way to forward a phone with no forward programming.

Im not even sure what the overnight page DN is. I know the TN but not the DN. And honestly, i am clueless as to how to find out at this point.

So the callers after hours come in and choose an option off of the auto attendant? If they do, what does that have to do with 2272 being in the CDB? What is the "Call Transfer" destination set to in the auto attendant? I would bet it is not 2272 and it is whatever the night bell DN is. Go into your AA and determine that number. Or, if you know the night bell TN, go to LD 20 and:

REQ: PRT
TYPE: TNB
TN: ll ss cc uu OR cc uu

Get the DN

7102 is our auto attendant.

Telebub,

This would be if a call comes off hours and they dont choose anything off the AA. Or i would assume press 0 for the operator.

Does your WAT trunk, TN 4-1-0-2, cross-connect to a paging controller? If so, do you have another cross-connect on that controller that goes to an analog TN? Typically if it is a Valcom or Bogen controller, it will have an input for night ringing from an analog line. If you can find that, you might find the DN you are looking for.

I still think you need to look at your Auto Attendant. Is it Meridian Mail or CallPilot? The AA may be controlled by a Time of Day/Day of Week service. If the caller doesn't press anything or presses 0, it still could be programmed to route to the night bell DN after hours.

The page trunk is just going to the controller. I thought there would be an analog TN as well but there isnt.

I did look at the AA in Meridian Mail but didnt see anything pointing to a DN. Unless i was looking in the wrong place.

find the night bell - connect to an analog phone and dial a phone with a display to see what number nught bell is - now you can do a DNB and a TNB to find RNPG

if the set pickin up is in rnp group 12 I would use ld 81
>lst
return to
feat rnp
rnpg 12
it will tell you what devices are in that group..there will probably be an analog one for the bell ext

also the PAG trunk I found out with some dep list updates we just did is no longer suppported trunk type and may need to be reprogrammed
