Anyone using CommVault with either a Overland NEO 4000/ 8000 Series or a StorageTek SL500/L180? I want to know what peoples opinions are and if there was any problems with CommVault on the above.

Currently using CommVault for D2D2T backups, aux copies going to a AIT3 medium which I do not like, moving to LTO Gen 3 as soon as I get more feedback on the libraries.

Thanks,
Darren

I'm waiting on LTO Gen 3 as well (I know it's already out, but still waiting a while). We upgraded to AIT 4 in the meantime. I was hitting 202 GB per hour doing AUX copys to tape on Tuesday. I have no beef with AIT right now. We were on AIT 3, but implemented Commvault along with the AIT 4 drives, so I don't know what the performance would have been like with the AIT 3's.

Not bad I suppose, moving to LTO Gen 3 as there is WORM capabilities down the road. Just puchased 14TB of ATA disk for backups and hopefully getting a NeoScale encryption unit and a STK SL500 library with LTO Gen 3 which is released at the end of this or the middle of April according to StorageTek.

What version of CommVault are you on?! I am doing an upgrade in the coming week or so, from 5.0 to 5.9. Do you have QNet? Data Migrator or Exchange Migrator?

Hi

DataMigrator is very good but, test first with your anti virus software as some cause problems with retrieving data from the secondary storage (outbound scaning causes problems if you can't swith it off)..so far I only know of Trend Micro that has this problem because theres no way of switching off scanning outbound files.

We use Exchange Migrator and it's very efficient....took our Exchange db down from almost 17Gb to 8Gb :)

We are using a Neo 4100 SAN attached with Commvault. We have had no problems with it at all. We did a DR test last November, and the library (SCSI version of the 4100) caused no end of problems. Main one being the controller card, which was swapped.
From what I've heard, speaking to a number of contacts, is they either love it or hate it
(it either works 100% or fails 100%!)
