Ok, here is the situation. I have an IP network running CCM 3.14. One of our locations is still running a centrex based phone system with an overhead paging system. They have the overhead paging device hard-wired into a centrex phone which is the device that allows the interaction between the other phones and the paging system. I am switching them over to the IP phone system and doing away with the centrex.

I have put in place an ATA 186 ready to interface into the overhead paging. The problem, however, is what to use to get this to work. I have a hunch by the research I have done that a Bogen TAM-B would do what I need it to. Any thoughts or comments?

Get a Valcom V-9970, and don't forget to get a power supply as well, as it comes separate from the V-9970. We have used these devices extensively from ATA-18X analog ports as well as FXS ports in a voice gateway, and VG248's as well. Works like a champ.

Good Luck,

Pat

A Bogen TAM-B will interface with your ATA186 just fine, but you will need an amplifier or powered speakers to use with it.

I've used both the Valcom V-9970 and the Bogen Tam-B. The Bogan didn't require a power supply if connecting to an analog station port but it would only let you page for about 30-40 seconds then disconnect. You would have to call back, if needed, to make a longer page. We went with the Valcom in our Corporate office because there wasn't a time limit and in case of an emergency the Security desk could give several evacuation options for every floor. The Valcom did require a power supply. Hope this helps. Thank you.
