Overhead Paging using a Universal Trunk Card?

Ok guys, forgive me for my ignorance...I'm a Norstar guy trying to help out a customer on what I thought should've been a relatively easy process, but seem to be finding out otherwise :)

The customer is wanting to access the overhead paging using a Universal Trunk Card. Supposedly they've got the port programmed with some kind of a route pointing to the first line on the card (which is tied in directly to an amp), using a 4 digit access code to hit the route. However, we don't seem to be getting any signal across the pair.

Was wondering if someone would be kind enough to actually give me the exact steps on building the route, or what it takes to set it up correctly, so I can get it to the customer for them to program it properly-

And forgive me if I've left anything important out!

Thanks in advance!

Chris

Check to make sure they are terminating on the correct pair of the switch. Universal Trk boards are double density. They should have programed the TN and route as a CO trk and loop start. If the TN is 4 0 0 5 the correct pair out of the switch will be BK/BL (w/bl-w/gr-w/s-r/o-r/br-bk/bl)

For some reason, the switch won't let the customer set the port up as a COT...it's giving them an error of "Type of trunk of a route cannot be changed"...any ideas?

Ok. Got them to totally rebuild the thing, and it did take it as a COT, loop start. This is on the first TN of the card (the only think on the UTC, actually) but still don't seem to be getting a signal.

There were other things in there that we were not sure about, however it did let her go all the way thru the config on the TN etc without errors...however if someone could give me the walkthru to be sure, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thx again!

Woohoo! Success (stumbling success, but success none the less).

Had to set up the route (LD16) as a Page (PAG)

Then went to LD14 and set up the port as PAG as well.

Using the designated extension number assigned to the route, all functions properly! Woohoo!
