Overhead paging calling operator after hangup

I have an issue, where if someone makes a page and hangs up. The paging system will dial the operator. The operator picks up the call and no one is there. However you can hear her on the overhead paging system.

Apparently this has been happening for quite sometime and they just now decided to report it.

Any suggestions?

If the person paging has an analog phone, make sure they have CLS XFA and not XFD.

If the paging interface is "station" (vs. trunk), make sure the paging port (would be type 500) has CLS XFR (vs. XFA or XFD)

If the Paging interface is "trunk" then set the Route's TIMR TFD to 30 (it defaults to zero). This will insure page calls only last 30 seconds.

I would imagine most of the time its from a digital phone.

Its a paging trunk. I do have the TFD set to 60. You think changing it to 30 would make a difference?

It might be worth reviewing your "MPO_DATA" in LD21

REQ PRT
TYPE MPO

There are prompts in the MPO that determine if calls are sent to the console in certain situations. There are a lot of prompts, but if you see any of them with the response "ATN" then that condition, when met, will send a call to the Attendant.

Ok, I will check it out. I did find 1 Analog phone that could be the culprit and made the change.

Whats more baffling is the person that told me about the problem said its been happening for years..it just got worse lately.

You prolly did this, but you can find all sets with CLS XFD in LD81

REQ LST
FEAT XFD

There is absolutely no application for CLS XFD now that XFR exists.

XFD transfer calls to the attendant when a hookflash is performed. Not sure why anyone would have asked for that.

XFR just ignores hookflash.

XFA allows transfer, etc.

Change the MPO_data to AOCS DIS DIS and that should fix it.

Sporty,

I actually just came across an older thread where GHTROUT said the same thing to a very similar situation. I have made the change.

Thanks for the help!
