I have a new R7 w/a Valcomm 2000A paging system attached to line/port 5 on the ACS that my customer is using for paging access. The system works just fine, except that they want to have a "release" button like they did on their old Nortel system that we just pulled out. That button allowed them to end the overhead page w/o hearing the handset hang up or the switchook being pressed. I don't see anything in the docs that tells me if this can be done or not. I assume not. Any thoughts?

There is no release button.

BUT, you could put a "dummy" line button on the phones. Pick a line that has no dial tone. Put that button on phones, and label it "rel".
They could just touch that "rel" button. BUT....
Until they hang the phone up they are connected to that dummy line. So, calls will ring that ext as if it were "offhook". So that would be a drawback(maybe)

Telecomtekperson - I think you're on the right track.

They press Intercom and dial 70 (or *70) or press the External Page button and they're doing an overhead page. Then they press that "false" line key, which disconnects them from the page, and then they put the handset back into the cradle. The short time that they are on the "line" shouldn't make any trouble.

wouldnt pressing the other intercom buton or a valid line do the same thing without dedicating a button ?

thinking about it evan pressing the same intercom button should do it

Thanks for all the ideas guys. skip555 was the winner, as that is exactly what I did. I just have them push Intercom 2 and then hang up. No click! They are happy to do that instead of hearing someone slam the handset down, lol...
