I have a problem I can't seem to find the solution to. My hospital wants to have overhead music. That is simple to do with out mixer and a CD player. The problem I am having is being able to turn the music off at night and back on in the morning.

I have already attempted to get a sprinkler timer and use it to actuate a relay, creating the connection between the CD player and the mixer. Unfortunately, the timer only allows for 99 minutes of being "on".

Is there some solution out there that I am missing?

I'm not an actor, but I play one on TV.

Im assuming your looking for cheap

leave it always running and put a switch on the output and assign someone the task of turning it off when the leave and on when they get in

For your local power supply 110 VAC or 230 VAC, you can buy ON/OFF timers that have a turn over tour of 24 hours.
So this timer could swith ON/OFF the power for a power supply e.g. 9 Volts that sets a relay ON/OFF.
The relay enables/disables the audio path from the CD player to the power amplifier.

Simple and easy to do.
Try it and let me know about your success!

Have you warned the hospital that playing standard CDs can be perceived as a copyright violation? I sure would! I would just buy a real timer like Altronix PT724A and use it to switch the audio on and off. They're not that expensive and you'll be happy with the result.

might be able to use the switch for the on off function.. what is the switch type? might want to get musak, or some other none protected music, a rebroadcast lic can burn. nothing like a right to use lawsuit to stop the music..

that law is why elevator music is so great..

We have already purchase music with the correct license, so that is not an issue.

Do you have a old pc knocking around? Could create a playlist and set up as a scheduled task.
