Over the wire Migration

I will be upgrading my Novell 4.2 to a new server. I want to do over the wire migration to transfer data. I will install the same software onto the new server thats on the old server (4.2) same license etc.. my question is, will I have a problem if i put two servers on the same tree with the same license??? I would like to keep the same Tree name ans server name as well...

Any help would be appreciated

You will DEFINITELY have problems!!!

Don't forget about all of the NetWare File System Rights and Trustee Assignments that need to be moved as well.

I have documentation that I have put together that describes, in detail, the steps involved with a "Server to Server Hardware Upgrade". It will allow you to configure the New Server with the Old Server's Name, IPX Internal Net Number, as well as all of the Directory Services rights contained.

These procedures have helped successfully upgrade hundreds of servers!

Another best practice would be this:

If you can make a mirror image of your working server and build a server for testing, and do a practice run of the migration. This will also allow you to address any issues that arise so when you do the real migration, you will already know what to expect and how to deal with it. I would also go one step further, if you have an NDS database on this server, make sure it is a read/write, if it is the master of any replica, make sure you deisgnate another server etc.
