Hello all been coming to this site for many years to learn and assist when I can.

This system sounds interesting and I am seriously considering it for a customer to replace some old norstar key systems. But before I invest money in a demo system and training I was hoping to get some opinions from anyone who has experience installing and maintaining. Reliability and stability are my main concerns, as well as customer satisfaction with the product.

Thanks

For what it's worth, I had 18 years with Nortel in Norstar Tech Support as the Staff engineer and then as a Senior Pre-Sales Engineer for BCM since it was parts on a table code named "Conan". The one day in 2009, I got a call from Nortel telling me to "have a nice life" along with 3,000 other people. Some of the "other people" were Developers and Design engineers who started E-Metrotel and did the design work and development for the UCx. Since I already knew most of them and had worked with several of them over my 18 year period, I was quite interested in what they were doing. So, now all we deal with is UCx and I can honestly say it is a great system that provides incredible value to existing Nortel customers who have Norstar, BCM, or CS1K, as well as new customers.

This post is not a commercial or "sales pitch" for anyone, but solely my opinion of the UCx product line. I hope I haven't violated any rules with this post.
Have a blessed night!

Stocking Distributor for E-Metrotel

I can chime in as an end-user/system administrator, and as one who is the primary contact for updating and maintaining the system. We've had our UCx up and running for about five months now, and thus far, no problems to report. We're using 1230 IP sets and some digital phones, and they all integrate very well.

One of the struggles that I had to get past at first was the fact that, while the UCx imitates the functionality of a key-based system, there are some features that work more like a PBX-based system. For our purposes though, everything that we need is present in the UCx ... we've lost little functionality.

Emetrotel just came out with Release 4, which I did this morning ... very simple, with step-by-step instructions. With basic phone users who don't have a lot of "techie knowledge", integrating the system went much better than I thought it would. The users are happy, and they know how to do their basic tasks.

You can easily connect to the system remotely as well. Our support personnel can log in when we experience an issue that we can't figure out here. He's in Tennessee, so it eliminates the need for someone to physically travel to the system to diagnose a problem.

I've been pleased with the system thus far, and would recommend it as a top contender for a Norstar replacement.

FYI, If you want to see my opinion on the UCx check out my videos on youtube....see my signature here.

I am thrilled by the system and the fact that "Nortel is alive and well with E-MetroTel"....maybe that should be their slogan?
