Over 50,000 files to backup up by Arcserve taking ages

Hello,

We use ARcserveIT 6.6 and there is this troublesome server
that has over 50,000 pdf files to backup and it takes over
3 days to backup. (they are only about 1-2 gb all up) . Why
does it take so long to backup. All compression seems to be
on Netware and on the backup drive.

ARCserve is know to have throughput problems when there are large number of files (size not important) in a single directory (10K+). If all the files are in a single directory, try separating them into subdirectories. Cheyenne's site has a number of TIDs about this.
