Oval Picture, with white background on outside

I currently have a logo that is contained with a green oval. It was made with a white background in the shape of a rectangle.

I need to remove the white background around the oval, so I can move the oval anywhere over any other colos and have only the oval image show.

I am new to this, looking for a little help.

Use the magic wand and select the white, and delete it.

Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..
