Outside Link Pointing to InfoView and Report

I would like to add a link to our Intranet that will direct the user to InfoView and direct them to a specific object, such as a Report or Hyperlink.

I know we can designate a specific folder/object when you log into InfoView, but it would be great to open InfoView to a specific object that is not the default.

Hopefully this request makes sense.

SSO is enabled and working
BOEXI on Win2003 Advanced Server

Thanks!!

Thank you for the links! What I want to do is to actually open InfoView, but then display a specific object within the portal frame. It does not seem this article relates to this topic. Of course, I'm still learning so I could be missing something.

Thanks again!

In trying to make this as easy as possible, maybe I should look into changing users preferences to configure the default '...initial view'. I'll start a new thread on this topic.

OK, I'll bite, give an example of what you intend to *open* that is not the default.

Do you mean a folder, or ??? "not sure what the object part of your "I know we can designate a specific folder/object" means...

Note that Infoview does not allow for viewing the Infoview AND a report simultaneously in a frame, so your request makes it sound like you wish to rewrite the code, which you can do, or write your own front end.

Just to be sure I explain this correctly, I'll take it in steps.

The following URL logs you directly into InfoView with WinAD and SSO.

An example of what I'm after is a parameter within the URL specifying the default object, meaning, after it loads InfoView the user sees the specific object within the Portal. I am using the term "object" as any object uploaded to BOE such as a Hyperlink or Report.

Sorry for being lame in my explanations!

specific object within the portal" is explaining it correctly?

I asked for a specific and you restate the same thing...

A hyperlink???... I don't think that's a CE object. Objects are all assigned IDs within the CE database, and you can pass a parameter to open that object using the documentation I supplied.

Why do you need infoview loaded if you want the user to then see an object?

Sorry, I don't get it, I think I'd rather go home anyway ;)

If I open the report within InfoView rather than it's own window, it gives the users the options to Schedule as well as quick access to other objects. Mainly, it's a request, not something I came up with.

I'm going to take a different approach to this. I appreciate your help!

It's hard (IMO) probably JavaScript would be the way to go?

BTW: Hyperlink is a valid object type (albeit a confusing one).
