I work with an Avaya CS1000 and we have a block of DID numbers. I found several lines, which are assigned numbers outside the given block of DID numbers that are allowed to dial local or long distance. Now, our local OTM software does collect this information so people know who to assign these charges. My concern is that calls from these pseudo numbers could cause confusion other providers about who is making these calls. Would anyone care? One of my main concerns to those numbers assigned to people, where someone were to make a 911 call from one these numbers. Now the local 911 center is setup so that only one number shows up as assigned to this facility and therefore, only one general number appears from us and one address to which they respond. But I still beleive these non-DID numbers allowed to call outside need changed. Some of the numbers only make specific calls to other modems and no humans make general calls. In any case, does any else allow outside calls from non-DID numbers? One reason given to me is to avoid any calls into these numbers. Any thoughts?
