I've created a 2 page newsletter for print(4 pages total, 2 per spread in the order 4, 1; 2,3). Spread is tabloid size; 2 letter sz pages joined together.

My question is can I output to pdf in letter size where only a single page shows at a time rather than the out of order pages.

If you don't have Acrobat pro, the short answer is no. I'm assuming that you actually set up teh doc to be 4 letter sized pages and not one lanscape tabloid with 2 sections on it.

However, the fix is easy. Make a copy of your document. Open that and open the Pages window. Go to View menu and pick Entire pasteboard to make things easy to visualize. Then, in the Pages menu, select you want to be #1 and move it over the first page in the pages window. You'll see the change on the pasteboard. Repeat as necessary.

In the future, you shouldnot have to bother with this. If it's going to a pronter they impose the thing (put pages in proper order for printing). Depending on your version of ID, you might have a basic imposer. Look on the file menu for InBooklet. If you have that, you can impose and save a new imposed copy of your work without losing the proper order.

If you have Acrobat pro, you can rearrange pages by showing the Page panel and dragging the page number box over the thumbnail of the page you want it to replace.

Unfortunately, I set it up as a tabloid with two sections. Dumb, I know, but I'm looking for a way to splice each tabloid page into two pdf pages instead of one.

It's looking like I'll need to reset the document to facing letter pages, right?

Start a new letter size Id doc with 4 pages. Then open your present doc.

Use the selection tool and hold down the shift key and run it around the perimeter of everything on your first page of teh present doc, Then Copy. go to the new letter size doc and Paste.

If you want to make things more sure, after you've ceected everything on the first page go to Object menu and Group, Then copy and paste. This whole operation should only take a few minutes.

Repeat for the other pages. and save the new letter size doc. This whole operation should only take a few minutes. Then esport the pdf.

Ok, so now I've got the document as a 4pg spread. How do I print out to tabloid with 2 pages on each sheet. I seem to only be able to print the pages separately.

Are you printing it yourself or are you sending to a printer?

Teh printer will set it up to run on talbiod sized stock - but this will be referred to as a letter sized booklet. When you're talking size in page layout, you're talking the size of each page - not the size of the stock it will be printed on.

The printer will also "impose it for you" with imposition software - laying out the pages correctly so they come out in order when folded.

If you're running this yourself on a lodal print machine, use you'[re earlier piece. If you wna to run this check your printers setting. It would be tabloid size - landscape mode, flip content, 2 peges per sheet. Then select the appropriate pages to put on one side and the ones for the other side - if you have a duplex printer. Depending on your printer, you might not have these settings.
