Does anyone know of any gotchas to overwriting files in the output file repository in Crystal Enterprise (currently using CE10 but upgrading to BOE Xi R2 soon)?

Basically a report would be published as an external PDF document object (which has no schedules ... just a document which is stored in the output file repository). Then a process external to Crystal Enterprise (.bat file or similar process) would overwrite that PDF file stored in the repository with an updated PDF file from the external source daily, weekly, etc. Any risks anyone can think of in doing this? The goal is automated "publishing" into Crystal Enterprise from the external source.

Nothing comes to mind, I don't think that it stores any file information that could cause problems, so it should be OK.

But I'd bring it up in a test environment...

Hi,
Be aware, however, that directly accessing FRS directories
is not really recommended.( So follow Synapse's advice, and Test in a separate environment).

If the external source is creating/saving the subsequent PDF file, why use Crystal at all?
