According to the Clarion documention, there is a way to send a report to a text file instead of a printer. I have searched and searched. I don't see any built in templates to do this. It was a simple task in the old Clarion 2.1 DOS product.

Could someone please help me out?

Hi!

Clarion 2.1 used to dump the output to the LPTn port whereas Clarion for Windows uses the Windows Printer drivers for printing. If Preview is enabled, WMF files with an extension of TMP are created in the Windows TEMP folder. SV (Report Output Generators) and other 3rd party suppliers offer solutions to generate TEXT output from reports. If you want to hand code it, use a BASIC driver file, assign the data and append after the printing of the detail.

Regards

Thank you for the information. I finally bought a 3rd party module that does the trick.

I solved my problem the old fashioned way ... I bought a template that did exactly what I needed. he he he

Since I'm using Clarion PE 6.3 there is, apparently, no builtin in method to export to a text file. I am told that there is in the ClarionEE version. I can't afford the $3000 for that version. Buying the template was a very inexpensive solution.
