output of ps -ef for SCO 5.0.6

version is 5.0.6
I need to find out something about the output of the command ps -ef
in the tty coloumn, What does the ? mean

does it mean the process is lost or not working
just wondering, cause most all of my processes have a ? where the tty## should be. I have rebooted and it doesn't fix the problem.

They are daemons detached from any tty.

just wanted to know if it might cause people to not be able to log in to the server. I am getting a connection refused when trying to telnet
