Outlook2003 messages dissapearing 1

I've got a user who suddenly is losing messages out of their inbox and I'm not sure where they are going. He gets a new message, views it, perhaps clicks on another folder, then when he comes back to the inbox, the message is gone. Archiving is set to move anything that is 6 months old, and their are no active rules. For now I created a rule that moved a copy of all his incoming messages to a new folder, which works. When his new messages dissapear I can login to the Outlook web client and the new messages are still in the inbox so I am assuming the client and not the server is moving/deleting them. What am I missing?

Is View, Current View, set to 'Show all messages'?

That was it. The wording is a little different in the 2003 version, but it got me there. Thats a feature I seldom use.
