Outlook XP - Will not allow me to assign tasks

Whenever I try to enter a new task or assign a new task to someone I get the error message - 'Could not complete operation. One or more parameter values are not valid.'

This problem is occurring on a laptop running Win 2k Pro and Office XP Pro. I just upgraded to Office XP and this has never been a problem before.

Please help.
