OUTLOOK XP stop auto send and rec at start

I have scheduled my outlook (XP) to send/receive every 20 minutes, Is there any way I can stop it from receive/send when I start outlook?
When I boot up and start outlook, it seems to grab all processer power and freezes the rest of the system for sometime. I prefer to wait a while before I do my first send / receive.
