I have an annoying issue that I hoping someone can shed some light on. When I installed MSN Explorer 8 on my WinXP Pro, SP-1 system (my wife finds MSN easy to use) now I find that when opening Outlook XP it pauses for a period of about 30 seconds then finally completes initialization and runs normally. I noticed that when setting up MSN Explorer 8 that it wanted to make itself the default mail program and I did in fact set that option for my wife's profile and then set Outlook XP back to default for my own profile. I'm thinking that there's some type of conflict going on here between the two programs and would like to be able to correct it without uninstalling MSN Explorer 8. This peculiar behavior that Outlook exhibits occurs regardless of whether I'm running my POP3 profile or my Exchange 2000 profile. It's weird and I'm not sure where to look to resolve a possible conflict so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hey, thank you very much ExNuMex! I will check out the link you provided, see if that does the trick and report back. Have a good one! :)

Thanks again ExNuMex, you pointed me in the right direction! Although the reg hack didn't do the trick, TweakXP.com had another posting that read as follows:

"There has already been one suggestion for fixing Outlook's load time after uninstalling Messenger, however if you don’t feel comfortable editing the registry simply open OE, click on the Tools menu, then Options, then go to the 'Other' tab, then un-check the box at the bottom that reads "Enable instant messaging in Microsoft Outlook".

I did as stated above and VOILA! Outlook XP is back to being its snappy self. You ROCK ExNuMex! :)
