I have Win XP with Office XP. The problem started over the weekend. When I open outlook, the program loads no problems or errors, but it takes literally 20 seconds to open an email in the preview pane. And any other email I click on takes about the same amount of time to load in the preview pane. I scanned the .pst file with the inbox repair utility, it found no errors. I’ve defragged the HD. any ideas?

Is it only Outlook that you are having the problem
with or are there other applications slow to respond?

Its just outlook, all other programs work fine. computer isnt slow at all.

I ran into this same problem and solved it by disabling Instant Messaging in Outlook. In Outlook, go to Tools, Options and the "Other" tab. At the bottom of the page uncheck the Enable Instant Messaging box.
You will need to close and restart Outlook for the change to take effect.

Hope that helps.
