Hey guys:

I have a new system from Gateway on the network with an NT SERVER running exchange, for Microsoft Mail to work on our internal network. The only machine we can't get to jive is the new one with Outlook XP. The machine can ping the server, browse the server and works flawlessly on the network and goes out to the internet through a lan modem just fine. THE ONLY THING IT CANNOT DO is see the exchange server. IF you right click on the OUTLOOK icon and choose properties it asks if you would like to create a new connection and I choose yes, then I choose EXCHANGE SERVER, and it asks for the server name and the user or MAILBOX name and I enter that. Beside the name is a CHECK NAME box and when I click on it I get an error message after a few seconds stating the server could not be found and I must have a network problem. The older versions on the same system of OUTLOOK 97 and OUTLOOK 2000 allow you to BROWSE for the server and setup flawlessly. The new version of OUTLOOK XP doesn't have a BROWSE for the exchange server and instead makes you check the name, which it cannot complete. ANY CLUES???? keep in mind i can PING, TRACERT, etc to the server and there is no problem with TCP/IP or the network card. All other programs and settings work great across the network on this machine, the only prob is with XP??? Keith Buchanan
