Outlook won't open messages in new window!

When i 2x click a message in my inbox, the window does not physically appear. I see the window in my window menu, my main window becomes 'inactive' ( I can switch - cycle -  back to it) but it will not appear. This happens in my calender as well...

I am running 10.2.3, panther and outlook 2001 in classic

I also had this recently.
On one occasion trashing the Exchange prefs did the trick but another time I had to reinstall Outlook 2001.
