Does anyone know why outlook refuses to see the exchange server.

I put in the server name and account name, click 'check name' and it just says 'operation failed'.

I can ping the server's IP , i've even now edited the darn LMHOSTS file to add the server name.

I've set up VPN and installed SSL VPN user certificate and connected that way even though I'm connected direct to the company's network router!

Nothing I do seems to work.

What's also wierd is outlook when you try to open it, comes up with 'connect to ip xyz" and the VPN certificate is in a drop down? what's that all about?

I've reinstalled office done a repair install of windows , nothing will work?

There is another wierdness going on, in the accounts there is also a pop account, receiving mail seems fine, but when you try to create an email, any email address you type in the recipient field, gets converted to have '=SMTP:mymail@mydomain.com'

Is this going to be a format and start again job?

Any ideas?

Ok , I re-installed SP2 and now we are good go... ahh well, what's with Microsoft not being compatible with it's own stuff.

Now I can't import the old OST file ?

HELP!

Do a search for ost2pst... I have the app (256kb) but I can't find the download link for some reason to send you. If you can think of a way to get it off me then shout.

the ost2pst Microsft converter doesn't work for MSO2003 , i've done loads of searching and all I can find is companies wanting to charge ridiculous amounts for a tool to recover OST files.

Like i'm going to pay $1,000 for a software tool i'll only ever use once, coz i'm never gonna make the same mistake again of not exporting the emails to PST before removing the machine off the domain!

I assumed after doing the domain switch over I could simply import the OST, oh boy was I wrong!

won't be doing that again! :)

It does work for 2003 (or at least the version of ost2pst I have does), I used it last week to convert a users ost to pst successfully. It was a free download, I just can't find where the hell I got it from.

cool, coz all results I found talked about getting the MSO2000 converter and dll's and changing it to a PST extension then running the fix-in-box tool and then converter with the MSO2000 tools.

rather than me posting an email addy here and as this forum doesn't have PM , you could always send me a feedback email to my FAQ's i've written and then you can email me the program - if that's ok with you!
