I have a CheckPoint NG firewall installed on Windows 2000 SP2. I am having problems with the firewall not allowing proper communication between Microsoft Exchange 2000 Sp2 front-end server sitting in the DMZ and Microsoft Exchange 2000 Sp2 back-end server for Outlook Web Access. I get to authenticate but the OWA screen will not display the mailbox or any folders usually found in Outlook.I have read tons of Microsoft articles on what ports to open for propers communication between the DMZ and Inside private network. When I drop the all rules and apply the ANy-Any rule which open up my firewall on all interfaces, I get the logon screen and get into OWA screen. I've also seen the OWA fully displayed with all the folder after rules have been reapplied but after a day the problem reappears.

Sounds like it may be related to the RPC problem that yardyy is having below - I'd check my response to that post and see if it relates to you at all.

Yeh sounds familiar, i found that after a couple of weeks OWA decides to use different ports to communicate with exchange, so until i go and put on logging, identify which port is blocked, and the add that port into the exchange list of ports ( currently there are over 10 ports open here) and then reinstall the policy, OWA works, but how long this time.. I know that you can hard wire through the registry the port that you want to use for communication between exchange and OWA, i dont know if i want to go down that route yet... hhhmmmmn itchy fingers.. Regards

Yardyy
