We have been using outlook web access for 3 years now and up until now have had no problems. The problem that I am having is when you try to access the OWA using a windows xp pro machine it is not possible. We are using basic authencation on the web server which means you just have to enter the username and password. When you do this on the XP Pro PC the login screen flashes and goes back to the login and therfore not letting you on. Does anyone have any ideas how I can overcome this problem?

I have done some testing today and it will also not logon using challenge response. It will logon to the OWA login screen but it will not logon to the mailbox.

Regards

I assume you have exchange 5.5 since you said you've been using this for 3 years.

Also assuming that your web server and Exchange server are not on the same machine then only basic authentication will work as described in following doc from Microsoft.

The following document describes a problem (and has a fix) with XP SP1 and basic authentification that might help.

Are you trying to login to OWA as someone other than who is logged into Your Domain?

You probably already know this, but I'll share just in case...

I.E....Tools...Internet Options...Advanced...
Uncheck "Enable Integrated Windows Authentication"

I hope this helps.
