Outlook is very slow on starting, seems that it is copying data down from the exchange server (I think) everytime it is started. When I remove the exchange account, outlook starts right up, but as soon as I add the Exchange Account back again on the workstation, outlook takes much longer to start-up. We are using exchange server but on this workstation receiving the email into a local pst file. Any ideas?

Thanks,

E

Just a wild guess, but when this happened to us, I found that my HOSTS file on the PC did not point to the Exhcange server. Depending on the version of windows, it may be in one of several places. Do a search for HOSTS, find the one without an extension (it should not say SAM file in the file type column) and check to be sure that you have a line with your Exchange Server listed, with it's IP address.

Hope it helps, let me know if you need more info.

You might also want to check your available memory on your computer. I had the same problem and found that when Outlook Experss started, it used up all the ram, and started using virtual memory, which slowed things down dramatically.
A simple, and inexpensive fix is to buy some more memory.

Outlook is DNS sensitive. Make sure your client can see your DNS correctly (run ping tests) and that the mail server is included in your DNS tables... and yes, DRowland has another good point, check your LMHOSTS and HOSTS files to make sure there isn't any bad entries, pointing to wrong servers and stuff... this includes your PDCs - DCs.

Hope this helps.
