Heres a good one for you.

Client of ours in Sydney running Outlook 2003 on the citrix servers (which are here in Brisbane) with the default timezone of +GMT10 Brisbane

User from Sydney running outlook locally with all time zones set correctly (GMT +10 Sydney and Daylight savings ticked) sends meeting request to Citrix Sydney user, and of course the meeting request turns up 1 hour early (syd to bne time)

Problem is if the Sydney user changes their time zone in outlook it wants to change the time zone for the “server” not on a per user basis, naturally this also isnt allowed due to group policy settings. "Access denied!"

Anyone ever come across this and ever gotten around it?

scanjam,
The majority of the time the issue with time differences in the app comes from the thin client.
The thin client's time zone has to be correct in order for it to work in Citrix.
I would validate that the time zone on both clients (either fat or thin) have the proper time zone and do some test e-mails.

Hope that helps.

unfortunately the client end is indeed right, even citrix is set to use the local client time estimation. but because the EXCHANGE servers are located in Brisbane, they are by default changing anything from sydney to brisbane time (even if the end user IS in sydney at the time)

Outlook can have its time zone changed, but it tries to change it on a PER SEVER basis not a per user or per session basis, hence the users do not have access to do it (and when made admins it works, but everyones time zone changes...)

Hoorah for outlook
