hello guys!

I have this problem with Outlook 2002. It takes about 4 minutes opening a simple Word document of only one page and a table on it. I have been checking in clients, and they seem ok. The server delivers quickly and after you open the attatchment once, it will open OK, aftermath. I just can't find where to fix this.

Server is a Dell PowerEdge 600SC
Running SBS 2000 with AD
1GBit NIC on a 100 Network. Clients are mixed Win2k, Win98 & WinXP.
If you need more info, please let me know. Thanks

It's possible some of the hangup can be attributed to Instant Messaging being enabled within the user's Outlook.

In Outlook, Tools-Options-Other and be sure the IM is not checked. Then restart Outlook and see if the speed improves.

Also, you mentioned a simple Word document. How about other attachments? Perhaps there is something within Word?

Since mostly of the attatchments are in Word, I haven't had any other complaint about another type of file. Now, I will check the IM setting... and will check whatever thing could be happening in Word. Now, there's one commong thing, the attatchment comes from the same client all the time. Then it is re-distrubited among users after it gets reviewed in another computer. But in every computer it takes long to open.

Another thing... that could may be affecting this it's that the source client has trouble making Outlook XP and Word 97 work together. I don't know if it's the difference in verisons, but I cannot send a word document as an e-mail within word. That's why it is now sent as an attatchment. If I try to make Word 97 to be my default E-mail editor, I get some MIME error.

Do you think that could be it? And how can I find a solution?

Thanks and sorry for bothering too much... that's the bad about beginners.
