Outlook spell check causes system crash

Outlook 2000 running on Windows 2000 laptop. Whenever user spell checks a composed mail before sending, application crashes (NOTE:user is not dialled up to network when this is occuring). Cannot CTRL-ALT-DEL, Laptop does not respond to any keyboard or mouse action. Have to reboot

Any ideas

most times I get a crashing outlook client it's because of corrupt temporary files - deleting all *.tmp files might help?
