We have a few users here that have more than one computer with their outlook up at the same time. Periodically one of the computers will show all of the messages as read, and the others will not. The massages have not been opened.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is Outlook working online and not offline on both machines? Is this on an exchange server, if so version please and version of Outlook. If you close Outlook down on one of the PC's that is showing as not read, then go back in and online is it still the same ?

Have you got OWA setup if so what does this show? Do they need to have Outlook open on 2 different machines at once, can they just not close one instance down and open when needed after all it only takes a few seconds or should do to open ?? If an exchange server, have you tried removing the exchange account and then adding on both machines, also try a full detect and repair on both and if no joy maybe type a few key words in google to see what that comes up with and work through any suggestions.

Hi

Thanks for your response.

The version of outlook is both 2003 and 2007. The exchange server is 2007.

OWA shows the correct emails being read and not read, I have recently deleted the OST file so it would download again, and about a week later it happened again. Also about a week ago I moved the mailbox to another store.

Not leaving the computers is not a option due to the fact that this happens most often on the owner of the companies email and he gets a lot of large emails, and he expects instantaneous results from outlook (his OST file is greater then 16 GB and he dose not want to clean up his mailbox).

I leave 3 computers of mine on all the time and I have no difficulties.

The only difference besides the OST file be bigger on his outlook is that he has a blackberry using a blackberry server and he uses a laptop with a WIFI at times. (I use OWA when wireless)

We recently had the Blackberry server gone through by a consultant to try to find this problem.

Recently the same problem occurred on the CFO’s computer but in ½ hour it resolved itself.

Any suggestion are greatly appreciated as this problem has evaded resolution by my staff and consultants we have brought in.

Thank you in advance for any ideas.

Chris
