Outlook says "sending message 1 of 1"

Outlook 2003 on windows XP Pro. Outlook is continually saying "sending message 1 of 1" when in reality there is no message on the outbox.

If I send a message it will say "sending message 1 of 2" when in reality there is only 1 message in the outbox.

Any ideas?

How big is your pst file? Have you compacted your pst?

I guess what I am hinting at is to clean out as much data as you can from all of your folders, and compact them.

Try that.
