I send emails from Outlook with big attachments, e.g. CAD files. I want to save the email to a public folder but I DON'T want to save the attachments as they are already in my CAD system.

I would like the saved emails to still include a reference to the attached files, like when I forward an email without attachments, so I know what was sent.

Anyone know what to do?

Thanks.

Yep, delete the attachment from the e-mail. Then go to Insert, Object. Click on Create from file, and select the file that you sent. Then click Link and display as icon. This will then show you later on which file you sent.

In Outlook 2000 and 2003 I can't Insert anything into a sent email. (unless I edit it, then I can insert a hyperlink, but that is getting complicated for a routine operation)

However thanks for pointing out that I can remove the original attachment completely. I'd been looking round Outlook for a "save without attachments" option!

Ian.
