Outlook RunTime Error in Calendar

I have a user who is experiencing the following error whenever he tries to either accept a meeting in Outlook 2000 or sometimes when he sends a meeting request:

Runtime Error!
Program C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~3\Office\Outlook.exe
abnormal program termination

To troubleshoot this so far I tried using the /cleanreminders, /cleanviews, /cleanfreebusy switches.

When that did not resolve it, I removed and reinstalled Outlook.

That did not work either so I tried to edit his registry entry for the path to Outlook. All of his other Microsoft apps have the path completely spelled out. For example: C:\program files\microsoft office\office\

Only Outlook seems to be using that DOS path C:\Progra~1\Micros~3\

However, even logged in as local admin, it would not let me edit those particular registry keys for Outlook. As a test, I was able to edit other keys with no problem.

Now, I'm at a loss. Help? Thanks!

Ive run into the same issue. I think its related to the DST issue and patches. Its only happening on one machine so Im comparing the others that still have Outlook 2000. I did get half of a solution though. Detect and repair was able to fix the issue with accepting meeting requests, but sending requests still give the runtime error.

Actually, it was due to Adobe Acrobat 8.0 adding the icons in the Outlook toolbar to convert to PDF. Somehow, that screwed up the calendar.

Once we removed and reinstalled Acrobat without adding the icons into Outlook, then the users could accept meeting notices without a problem.
