I have a rule in outlook that automatically deletes any incoming email from a spammer who got my address. It works fine except that it doesn't turn off the little envelope on my toolbar that notifies me when an email is unread. The only way I can clear it is to close Outlook and launch it again. Does anyone know what to do about this admittedly minor problem?
Thanks in advance!

Gilliam1,

If you don't want it all, you can always use the 'permanently delete it' option. thats what I do...

Yes, that is part of the rule I am running. It executes perfectly but does not close the envelope icon in the lower right corner of the windows screen.
...But I just went back in and checked the "Clear Message Flag" option, so maybe that will do it.

Darn, I was afraid that might be the answer!
Anyway, thanks for confirming it; knowing that helps me avoid spending more time on it. Thanks!
