Outlook rule to nowhere - any ideas?

I have a user that created a rule to move incoming emails from several users into his "Personal Folder" - that is the root of Personal Folder, and not a subfolder. Those emails were processed when tested and promptly disappeared. I tested this myself on some sacrificial emails in my Inbox and the same thing happens. Do they happen to go anywhere retrievable or are they floating around in that great big bit bucket in the sky?
