No way to give a short description.
Outlook 03 / 07 function - previously used e-mail addresses / names that auto populate as you type addresses in the TO or CC fields, these names are gathered and stored in the users local application settings as a mail-profile-name.NK2 file. This files grows as you reply to or send new messages in Outlook - names are added to previously used list.

We have added many regularly used outside contacts into our exchange server as custom recipients so they can be placed into groups for our staff to use.
Example: We set -
Appearance in our address books = lastname, firstname
SMTP E-mail = your_e-mail@yourdomain.com

Previously used names that auto populate as you type in TO or CC that are stored in the NK2 file may come up as firstname, lastname – or - lastname, firstanme because that was the format is was received as delivered from the original mail server.
It looks as if when our users send mail to our exchange distribution groups comprised of our custom recipients if there is a matching e-mail address – or name in the NK2 file - but does not match the name format ( order, spelling. etc.) and it does not exactly match our custom Exchange server recipients name formatting or custom email address entered > somewhere there is a drop of delivery to this custom recipient. It seems as if the NK2 file entry is taking precedence over custom recipients in a distribution list. Second scenario below.

Short summary when you send mail to a custom users distro group - locally stored user's NK2 file entries in format conflict w matching e-mail addresses override custom exchange server entries and do not go through.
On occasion the name matches - e-mail stored in NK2 is in conflict ( The name matches up - but stored e-mail address is an @Yahoo - @Embarq - @Etc.com )no deliver to the custom recipient. ) no delivery by exchange.
Thanks if you can provide any input. We have cleared entries from the NK2 file at each computer when needed - this works sometimes - sometimes it does not.
