In Outlook 2010 using POP3, if you have the setting checked "leave messages on server" for 14 days on two computers checking the same email account, does the mail client that touched the mail 14 days ago delete it from the server OR does the server "remember" to delete it after 14 days without Outlook doing anything. Like a self-destruct sequence.

I searched, I failed.

The mail client does the deleting that's how you can set a [when removed from deleted items] option in Outlook

Right - if I would have seen that option it would have clicked. Thanks.

So, potentially if someone was out of town for a while, say 10 days and their Outlook client wasn't running, it might actually be longer than 14 days (until the next Outlook startup) to delete files off the server.

Yes, messages that were read four plus days prior to going away will remain until the email client starts up and deletes them.
